‘Kennel’ cough

‘Kennel’ cough, if only it was that simple!

Kennel cough is a very contagious and uncomfortable condition that can rapidly spread between dogs during socialization, such as puppy classes, playtime in the park and of course from areas where dogs are kept in dense environments such as…a kennel!

Symptoms are generally presented as a hacking ‘cough’ however many dogs will also have frequent sneezing episodes and retch/gag, as if trying to clear a blockage from their throat, and may have a reduced appetite, generally appear under the weather and lethargic.

Most dogs recover from Kennel cough without any complications however older Dogs and very young dogs are more susceptible. Hence the importance of vaccination, even if your dog is low risk, others may not be! Unfortunately, there are no masks for dogs!

It is strongly advised for dogs to receive the dedicated Kennel cough vaccine. This helps protect against the bacterial portion (Bordetella Bronchiseptica) AND the viral portion (parainfluenza)

This is a vaccine we provide! Give us a call on 0141 332 1934 to book in today!
